Steven Tyler Sings Rita Ora’s Praises, Crashes Her Yahoo Interview

Selasa, 01 Mei 2012

Steven on Rita: 'Finally someone that can sing.'American Idol Season 11 is close to naming its winner, but judge, Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler is singing the praises of another budding artist who isn't a contestant on the popular reality show.
Friday, Tyler crashed a Yahoo! Music interview with Jay-Z's new protégé, Rita Ora, to greet the U.K. singer who is making her U.S. debut. When Tyler noticed Ora sitting on a bench in the garden of a swank West Hollywood hotel, he stopped by to say hello. Tyler was among the music industry A-listers at Ora's showcase Thursday night at the Viper Room.

Tyler said Ora was a great new artist because "she can sing," he said matter-of-factly, before adding, "Finally, someone that can sing."

Tyler said that Ora had what it takes to be a contender on "American Idol." "Oh my God. That's all I ever looked for was someone that could sing, carry a melody, because that's the it of it all," he said. "That's how you climb inside of people with rhythm, but also melody. And you got it."

"American Idol" contestant Elise Testone goes home without regret

Tyler said he loves Ora's new song "How We Do (Party)" and its video then began singing the chorus that interpolates the Notorious B.I.G. song "Party And Bullsh*t."

Tyler and Ora, who were excited to learn that they were staying at the same hotel, also talked fashion accessories, comparing notes on their rings.

"You're beating me in the ring game," Ora said, teasing Tyler.

But Tyler was impressed with Ora's taste. "Oh, look it, Loree Rodin?" he said as he pointed to one of Ora's pieces from the famous designer who made Michelle Obama's inauguration jewelry.

Last week, Ora released the video for "How We Do (Party)," her first U.S. single, a fun pop record reminiscent of Katy Perry. The song is quickly moving up the top 40 pop charts.

In March, Jay-Z walked Ora into radio stations to preview her music. Her first U.K. release "RIP" was written by Drake and features U.K. rapper Tinie Tempah, and her "Hot Right Now" collaboration with DJ Fresh has more than 18 million YouTube plays.

Ora has worked with will.i.am, The-Dream and Ester Dean on her forthcoming debut album.

Never-Before-Seen Pics of Marilyn Monroe Released

Lawrence Schiller/Vanity FairBy now, you'd think the world has seen every picture of Marilyn Monroe in existence and heard every story there is to tell about the iconic actress, who would have turned 86 on June 1. But the June issue of Vanity Fair proves there's more Marilyn scoop to be had, even 40 years after her death. The magazine has published a set of six never-before-seen suggestive pictures of the star taken by photographer Lawrence Schiller (who was 23 and went by Larry Wolf back when he took the pics) during a legendary poolside photo shoot.

It was 1962 and Schiller, on assignment for Look magazine, captured a near-naked Monroe as she frolicked by a shimmering swimming pool. In one photo, she holds a towel to her chest as she climbs out of the pool, smiling softly at the camera, one leg pointed towards the sky. But before you start assuming that the male photographer talked a vulnerable Monroe into shedding more than she wanted to, check out some of what Schiller reveals in an adaption of his memoir, Marilyn & Me: A Photographer's Memories, excerpts of which are included along with the photos in Vanity Fair.

Resident Evil 6 dated for November 20

The writing's been on the wall for a new flagship installment in Capcom's Resident Evil franchise for some time now, and today, the publisher pulled the trigger on that announcement. Resident Evil 6 will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on November 20.

Resident Evil 6 will feature a split plotline, though bioterrorism remains the motif. In the US, Leon S. Kennedy joins the president of the United States 10 years after the events that defined Raccoon City, ostensibly to offer the truth on what actually happened there. However, in the midst of this revelation, bioterrorists attack, converting the president into a lurching undead.

On the other side of the world, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield touches down in China, which is in the midst of its own bioterrorism outbreak. Resident Evil 6 will be the first installment in the franchise to feature both Redfield and Kennedy, and Capcom noted that new characters will also be introduced in the game.

Development on Resident Evil 6 is being led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi. The developer has previously received producer credits for a number of Capcom's titles, including Resident Evil 4, Killer7, and Dragon's Dogma.

Prior to today's announcement, Capcom had posted to a countdown teaser site for the game, NoHopeLeft.com. That site now directs to a YouTube page featuring Resident Evil 6's first trailer, which can be found below.
